| February 8, 2013 8:00 AM

A report of a possible weapon on campus on Thursday, Feb. 7 caused Bonners Ferry High School to go into lock down around 2 p.m. After a thorough investigation by school officials and the police department, it was determined another kid was flipping a kid off from a distance and that kid thought it looked like a weapon, said Supt. Richard Conley.

Officials interviewed the reported student and learned that the student does own a gun but does not bring it to school. Backpacks and lockers were searched, along with one vehicle and no weapons were found.

“We took all the necessary precautions,” said Conley. “It was a false alarm.”Students were in lock down for about 30 minutes. Classes resumed after the investigation was completed.
