Girls on to state

RATHDRUM — The Badgers were down 34-42 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter but scored the final 11 points of the game to upset the number one seeded Spartans 45-42 in the Intermountain League District championship game at Lakeland High School on Feb. 6.

Savannah Woods led the Badgers with 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals. McKenzie MacDonald added 11 points on deep outside shots.

The Badgers will play the Panthers from Parma who were the District 3 champions.

The 3A girls state game will be at Skyview High School in Nampa with the Badgers playing at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14.

The Lady Badgers defeated the Kellogg Wildcats 34-26 in the first round of the Intermountain League Districts at Lakeland High School. The Badgers out scored the Wildcats 15-7 in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game.

The Badgers were led by Savannah Woods with 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Kendra Merritt added seven points and 10 rebounds.
