The Lady Badgers had another good team effort in the championship game against West Valley, winning 50-44.

“It’s always fun to play well against a good team,” said coach Travis Hinthorn. “They were pretty athletic. But I thought we played well defensively and offensively. We had a little trouble with their press but held our composure as the game went on.”

Kerstin Oxford gave the Badgers the momentum at half by stealing a West Valley pass with two seconds left and scoring a 25 footer on the buzzer.

“We had some foul trouble but our subs gave us some good minutes and Ally Merrifield hit some big free throws towards the end,” said Hinthorn.

Scoring was led by Savannah Woods with 15 points and five rebounds; Aubree Wasmer with 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals; and Jasmine Hill with seven points and six rebounds.

“Kendra Merritt, Aubree Wasmer and Savannah Woods are getting better and better at their post defense and they worked hard and did a great job tonight,” said Hinthorn.
