After a disappointing loss at Moose Madness, the boys varsity basketball team played hard against Coeur d’Alene Charter on Jan. 12 to win 54-49.

The Badgers came out on fire in the first quarter, hitting 10 of their first 14 shots against Charter and scoring a season high 23 points. Facing a 1-3-1 zone much of the game, Bonners moved the ball well and found open shooters, which led to easy baskets.

Cameron Woods and Evan Moe scored 15 points apiece to lead the Badgers.

In the first half, we struggled a bit on defense again and allowed too many points in the paint, but in the second half, we started defending much better and held Charter to only 16 second-half points. Isaac Price came off the bench and defended the Panthers’ leading scorer tough all night, and Josh Pluid took advantage of Charter’s aggressiveness to draw two charges.

I was happy with how the team responded following the disappointing loss to Sandpoint. They played well as a team and showed much more intensity.

We also took care of the ball much better and attacked open areas of the zone with the pass and the dribble. Overall, we looked much more confident and aggressive on offense.

The Badgers will be facing Kellogg this Saturday at home.
