Summer reading program

| July 3, 2013 1:19 PM

Open a treasure trove of adventure and find hidden gems by reading during the summer reading program at the Boundary County Library starting on Wednesday, June 19.

“Reading is a Treasure” is the theme of this year’s program and several activities for the whole family are planned around the theme.

Hone your treasure hunting skills by finding one of six paper parrots hidden throughout the library daily from June 20-Aug. 8. When you find one, take it to the front desk to claim a prize.

Bring the whole crew to watch pirate adventures during family movie time on Saturday, June 22 and Saturday, July 13 at 1 p.m.

Dig out the crayons, markers and pencils to draw something “pirate-ish” for the pirate coloring contest between June 24 and July 6. Bring in an original colored drawing to be displayed at the library and have your name entered into a prize drawing.

Prepare to conquer the sea by building your dream pirate ship during Lego club at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

Turn trash into treasure by entering a creation in the “Trash to treasure” contest between July 22 and Aug. 9. Create anything “pirate-ish” out of recycled trash, bring it to the library to be displayed and be entered into a prize drawing.

Share your sea-faring journeys by building an ocean scene during Lego club on Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m.

Celebrate your reading adventures with the piratical finale on August 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with Dave the Magic Man and a treasure hunt.
