Free sports physicals on Aug. 6

| July 4, 2013 9:00 AM

Each year physicals are required for students who are entering grades 7, 9, 11, and are participating in any sports, including cheerleading and dance.

A physical is also required of those new to the sports programs, which includes students in grades 8, 10, and 12 who did not have a physical last year.

The physical must occur before the first practice starts.

Boundary Community Hospital’s Medical Staff and hospital employees are volunteering their time so students participating in sports receive a free physical.

This is a one-night only event and students are encouraged to attend.

The Sports Clinic will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Students will travel through six testing stations and finishing with a quick visit with the doctor. The exam team provides privacy, even with the steady stream of students. The visit with the doctor is behind closed doors and the weight scales are in a secluded place.

The sports physical clinic is in the Outpatient Clinic of Boundary Community Hospital. Come in “the back way” to the hospital and enter through the double doors.

A consent form is necessary with a parent, or guardian signature, as well as the student’s signature for approval and permission. Coaches have the form.

Parents, and or guardians, must be present with the student for registration at the Sports Clinic.
