Seventh grade Badger girls place third at Districts

The Badger girls seventh grade A basketball team placed third in their division at districts on Feb. 23.

The Badgers had a 5-4 record overall, only losing to the Timberlake Tigers in four games.

In the first game, Timberlake beat the Badgers with a tough score of 46-19. Lead scorer for the Badgers was Kadi Bateman with seven points. Miranda Wenk added 14 rebounds.

In game two, the Badgers beat Lakeland 41-20. Scoring an impressive nine points was Wenk, who also added eight rebounds. Kassy Skeen was second in scoring with six points.

The Badgers came in with another win in their third game which was against Kellogg, 32-11. Bateman put up 10 points and Kinzie Unruh added six rebounds.

The fourth game brought the Badgers second loss to Timberlake, 40-18. Bateman led in scoring with five points. Wenk had 11 rebounds and Trinity Golder added nine rebounds.

In a close fifth game it was Timberlake and the Badgers again, with the Badgers losing 29-22. Bateman lead in scoring with eight points. Skeen added seven points. Wenk came in with 13 rebounds.

Back to back wins against Lakeland came next for the Badgers. Badgers beat Lakeland 48-42 with Wenk adding 24 points and 8 rebounds. Bateman scored 12 points and Golder added 10.

Then it was the Badgers beating Lakeland with a gripping score of 29-27. Bateman led this time in points with 10. Skeen added seven points and in rebounds it was Wenk with nine and Unruh with eight.

In the first district game the Badgers faced Timberlake for a gripping loss of 43-37. Wenk led with 14 points and Skeen came in with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Badgers earned a win against Clark Fork, 47-10, ranking the Badgers third place in districts. Rylee Riekena led in scoring with 14 points and Golder led in rebounds with 10.

"It was a fun season and I look forward to watching these ladies as they progress," said coach Dan Myers.
