| March 15, 2013 9:00 AM

As the season changes from winter to spring, 12 of Bonners Ferry’s best and brightest are busy preparing to compete in this year’s local Distinguished Young Women program, “Seasons of Change,” on April 27.

Each of these contestants will be competing in five different categories; fitness, self-expression, interview, scholastics, and talent.

These girls will be eligible for more than $12,000 in college scholarships.

The local winner will advance to Idaho’s state program in Idaho Falls in October where she will be eligible for more scholarships.

All state winners will travel to Mobile, Ala., to participate in personal development activities and community service projects before competing for the opportunity to become the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2014 and for a share of more than $125,000 in cash scholarships.

Distinguished Young Women is a scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments.
