Russell Dean Allan, 76

| March 15, 2013 9:00 AM

In the year of our Lord 2013 on the Feb. 23 while visiting in Seattle, Wash., Russell Dean Allan went unexpectedly and peacefully to be with the Lord his God.

He was born in Chewelah, Wash., to Al and Delores Allan on Sept. 10, 1936. While still an infant the family moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where he grew up. He loved the hunting, fishing and beautiful lakes, mountains and fields of the north.

After finishing high school there he continued his education at Washington State University and the University of Idaho where he graduated in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in business.

While there, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and met, loved, and married Joanie Richards.

Being a Christian, he loved God and all his ways. He enjoyed Bible study, travel, hunting, restoring old vehicles, photography and was so full of energy it engulfed him.

His work in companies was usually of a trouble shooting nature, but wherever he was he was always wanting to move back to Idaho. Finally in 1971, he took a position with Morrison-Knudsen in Boise. Later on he went on to pursue independent interests.

Russ took his role of father very seriously. His love was a constant his children could rely on.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Garry; and three infant sons, Daniel, Garry, and James. Surviving him are his devoted wife of 54 years, son Michael Allan (Teresa), Lynn Taylor (Dave), three grandchildren; Alex, Jennifer, and James and one great-grandchild, Tyler Allan.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
