Softball season begins with loss to Moscow

The girls varsity team went down to Lewiston Saturday and played their first two games of the season.

Of the 15 girls on the team, half have never played softball before. The girls played awesome, had amazing plays and batted well.

Despite their outstanding efforts the Badgers fell to Lewiston JV 3-12 in the first game in seven innings and the second game 6-16 in five innings.

Junior MaKenzie Carle pitched the first game with eight strikeouts and freshman Gabby Blackmore caught. In the second game, senior Lindsay Taggart pitched her debut game and junior Brianna Reasoner caught her debut game.

Senior Lindsay Taggart had a triple and went 3-6 on the day. MaKenzie Carle also went 3-6 on the day.

Foreign exchange students Shio-Mhara Roldan Andrade from Spain and Sandra Brkanovic from Montenegro both played in their first games ever and impressed everybody.

Both softball and baseball games originally scheduled in Sandpoint on March 12, have been rescheduled for Friday, March 22 at 4 p.m.

The girls next scheduled game is Tuesday, March 26 at Lake City.
