All-School Reunion set for Aug. 3

| March 29, 2013 9:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — Does it make you feel good to see the streets full of people laughing and hugging?

That is how I remember past “All School Reunion” weekends.

I would look out the windows of my shop and see groups standing on the sidewalks visiting with people they hadn’t seen for a long time, catching up on the last four, 10, 20 etc. years and reminiscing about the good old days or their version of it anyway.

This is what reunions are all about.

It has been the practice to have an “All School Reunion” every four years inviting everyone who has attended a school in Boundary County. The date to put on your calendar is Aug. 3.

This year is was decided to bring everyone to Main Street for the event. The City has graciously allowed us to close it to traffic.

Main Street has memories for everyone who has ever attended a school in Boundary County.

Instead of having the evening meal catered, all restaurants and organizations will have the opportunity to come to Main Street as vendors or invite groups to come to them.

There will be tents on the street for protection from sun or rain with tables and chairs for people to gather to eat and visit.

We are charging a $10 registration fee per adult. In the past some people didn’t want the meal and because the registration fee was all inclusive they didn’t pay it and just came downtown to visit.

The fee is much needed from everyone this year to pay for the band, port-a-potties, tents, tables, chairs, etc.

The mailings alone cost a lot and we didn’t even send to Boundary County residents this time hoping word of mouth and media would get to everyone.

Some of the fee is also put into a scholarship for a Bonners Ferry High School graduate.

With the fee you will also get a chance at door prizes and specials or discounts from local businesses.

Registration forms can be found around town and if you can’t find a stamp to mail it, bring it to me at the Hair Connection.

All plans are not finalized but there will be music with a street dance in the evening, an official greeting, historical walks, businesses have been asked to decorate and put up memorabilia, and lots of food, drink and laughter guaranteed.

If you are interested in being a vendor or have questions, please call Carole Dinning at 267-5611.
