Badger boys nab 2nd at districts; athletes on to state

The Badger boys took second at the District Track meet this weekend at Timberlake High School.

Luke Reoch dominated the distances with victories in the 3200(10:18.28) and the 1600(4:40.79). Luke nearly swept the distances with a second place in the 800(2:04.17).

Kyler Rice won the high hurdles(16.94) and was second in the high jump at 5’10”.

Rice also placed second in the 300 hurdles(42.75).

Collin Stone placed fourth in the 300 hurdles in a time of 47.77.

Kody Rice took second in the triple jump with a leap of 40’8”. Josh Dufrene placed third in the pole vault at 11’6” and Caelan Rapp was fifth at 10’6.”

Carman Krichbaum was third in the shot put(41’10”) and Robert Swanson was fourth at 38’7.”

Collin Cossairt placed third in both the 3200(10:30.49) and the 1600(4:52.44).

For the girls, Courtney Tucker was second in the 400(1:02.77) and third in the 200(27.18).

She also anchored the 4x100 relay team to second in a time of 52.3.

That team included Anika Blackmore, Gabby Munson, and Mackenzie Mendenhall.

Courtney’s 4x200 relay team of Mackenzie Mendenhall, Allyson Merrifield and Lily York took the gold in a time of 1:50.5.

Anika Blackmore placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4’10”. Sarah Schuman was third in the shot put with a toss of 33’9”.

She was also fourth in the discus at 96’11”.

Mackenzie Mendenhall was third in the 300 hurdles and her 4x400 meter relay team of Anika Blackmore, Jocelyn Palacios, and Lily York was second in a time of 4:20.88.

Jocelyn Palacios was third in the 800 in a time of 2:37.62.

The girls swept the pole vault going first through fourth. Lily York took first, Kendra Urbaniak was second and Gabby Munson was third.

All girls vaulted 8’6”. Emma Kelly took fourth at 8’.

All individuals who placed third or better will be participating at the state meet being held at Middleton High School on May 17 and 18.

Some athletes have qualified for an at-large berth by meeting a qualifying standard.
