Football fundraiser for girl with autism, trail crew
BONNERS FERRY —It is that time of year again.
Bonners Ferry Rotary Club is sponsoring its annual U.S. Customs vs. Border Patrol charity flag football game.
Last June they raised over $3,000 and were able to purchase a customized tricycle for Aiden Brenamen, 7. He has cerebral palsy and needed a specially made tricycle to help him with his mobility and independence.
This was made possible with the help of the Rotary Club, local business and our community coming together to help a great family.
This year the Rotary Club and CBP are working on putting together the second annual U.S. Customs vs. Border Patrol flag football game to be held on Saturday, June 15 at 5 p.m. at the Bonners Ferry High School football field.
With the aid of local businesses and the community, they are looking to help Abby Bliss. Abby, 7, has been diagnosed with autism. Abby’s parents, Jack and Amy Bliss, would benefit from some assistance from our generous community.
The second charity flag football game would help fund the Bliss’s goal of having a fence installed around their yard. This would greatly benefit Abby’s time playing in the yard and some peace of mind for Jack and Amy.
The Bliss’s house is next to the highway and Abby is always in danger with traffic.
In addition to this worthy project, we will also be raising funds for the “Young adults with special needs work program”. Pat Hart and the USFS give both youth and young adults with special needs the opportunity to be a part of a trail crew. This gives these folks a positive environment to earn a wage as well as the opportunity to share their great courage and enthusiam with other youth from the community.
We are hoping to see you at a great free family fun event to help Abby enjoy this summer in the yard with her family.
