Boys, girls x-country earn state berth

Runners crossed beneath a golden arch of fall color before crossing the finish line for districts at the Mirror Lake Golf Course. Badgers took advantage of the only home meet on Thursday, Oct. 24 to send their teams to districts.

Visiting Timberlake dominated districts, with the majority of the top 10 in both boys and girls coming from Timberlake, and they placed first for both boys and girls teams.

Both Badger boys and girls’ teams placed second, qualifying them for the Idaho 3A State Cross Country Meet in Idaho Falls on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Jill Alexander individually qualified for State with a time of 23:00 and a fifth-place finish.

Two of the Badger boys qualified for State: Jacob Perkins with a second-place finish of 17:43 and Luke Reoch with a fifth-place finish of 18:03.

For the boys team, Tucker Cavender wasn’t far behind with a time of 19:57.

Louis Balcaen, Nolan Stidham and Eric Ellis all finished the race within seconds of each other with times of 20:15, 20:20 and 20:31.

Alva Swanson posted a time of 21:34 and Caleb Madson posted 21:58. Zach Cleve finished in 23:09 and Alex Urbaniak with 25:52.

For the girls, Jordan Merz placed 12th with a time of 25:13. Amanda Bauer and Hannah Lysne finished close together with times of 25:50 and 26:08. Klarity Rice posted 26:28 and Cheyanne White finished with 30:06.
