| November 22, 2013 8:00 AM

Myrtle A. Burnett, 95, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Nov. 15.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23 at Sandpoint First Christian Church. Pastor Chuck Wigton and Pastor Barry Johnson will be officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

She was a resident of the Bridge for six and a half years, moving from her farm in Oden, after the passing of her husband Art.

Myrtle was born to Earl and Clara Johnson on Jan. 18, 1918, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She grew up with five brothers. She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1935 at 17. She attended Whitney Business School and was employed by an insurance company.

Myrt married Art Burnett on March 28, 1937. They were married almost 70 years. They lived in Coeur d’Alene until 1943 in the house they built.

Next they moved to their farm in Oden, Idaho, (near Sandpoint).

They developed a Grade A dairy business. They went out of the dairy business in the early 1960s and raised registered Angus cattle. They sold beef locally for many years.

She was a devoted wife and mother; raising seven children on the farm, which suited her well. She was involved with many community activities including Oden Busy Bees, Cow Belles, and local cattle auctions, Bonner County Fair, Oden School Board and Hope PTA.

She served on the local election board for years. Many Saturday nights were spent at the Oden Community Hall, where they worked as a team with Art playing in the western band and Myrt taking tickets and helping with the cooking.

She was one of five winners of the Women of Wisdom in Sandpoint in 2011.

Through Art and Myrt’s generosity and kindness, they developed many friends. They were considered pillars of the community. They passed on a rich heritage to their family.

Myrt is survived by her children: Delores (Clint) Campbell of Sandpoint; Don (Janice) Burnett of Banks, Ore.; Mel (Judy) Burnett of Libby, Mont.; Lee (Alison) Burnett of Sandpoint, Idaho; Lyle (Laurie) Burnett of Spokane, Wash.; Herb (Kim) Burnett of Heber City, Utah; 32 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren.

Also surviving her are two brothers, Ed and Ray Johnson, both in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 23 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, son Kenneth, daughter Alene, granddaughter Melisa and three brothers.
