Shirley Louise Marcy, 60

Shirley Louise Marcy, 60, a Bonners Ferry native and lifelong resident, passed away at home Wednesday evening, Nov. 13, 2013.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, Trinity Lutheran Church.

Shirley Marcy was born at the hospital in Bonners Ferry on Sept. 6, 1953, to Wesley R. and Joy K. Marcy. She attended and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School.

Except for her college education years in NIC for two years in Coeur d’Alene and University of Idaho for two years in Moscow, Idaho, she lived her life in Boundary County. In July 1969, she moved with her parents and brothers into their newly constructed home on the north side of Bonners Ferry, and continued to enjoy that residence.

After graduation from the University of Idaho in May 1976 with an accounting degree, Shirley worked for nearly two decades as a banker for two banks in Bonners Ferry. Subsequently she worked for many years as an insurance agent and service representative for two local insurance agencies.

Shirley was a member of and attended Trinity Lutheran Church, beginning at age seven, and throughout her life served that congregation in many capacities, including as a congregational officer, as a choir member, and as baker of communion bread for more than 20 years.

Her knowledge of food and cooking helped with the planning of, preparing and serving many smorgasbord dinners. One of her favorite hobbies was reading. She also when her grandparents were alive enjoyed many camping trips, and visited many lakes, streams and the beautiful mountains in our area. Shirley also enjoyed decorating and had a large collection of Hallmark ornaments.

Shirley neither married nor had children. She is survived by her mother, Joy Marcy, of Bonners Ferry; a brother, Kenneth Marcy, of Moscow, Idaho, and a brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Bobbie Marcy, of Sagle, Idaho.

She is also survived by Merrill and Betty Marcy of Moravia, Idaho; Donald Marcy, Bayview, Idaho; Pauli Marcy, Sandpoint, Idaho; and other aunts, uncles and cousins in both Idaho and Missouri.

Other survivors include her niece, Melissa Marcy, and step-nephew Andy Funderburg of Mondovi, Wis.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Marcy; brother, Mark Marcy; uncles Gordon and Ronald Marcy; aunt Janet Marcy; grandparents Leon H. and Clara Marcy and Bill and Christine Jeffries.
