Have you noticed the flashing yellow stoplight at Alderson Lane? The City of Bonners Ferry and the Idaho Transportation Department have been testing flashing yellow and flashing red lights before school starts and during school release.

With the flashing yellow light, the traffic flows better during the high traffic times said Stephen Boorman, City Administrator.

The City is working with ITD to reprogram the stoplight to flash yellow on Highway 95 and flash red on Alderson Lane during the morning and afternoon school rush. During the remainder of the day, the stoplight will return to normal operation.

A flashing yellow stoplight warns drivers to proceed with through the intersection with caution and yield to oncoming traffic to turn left.

A flashing red stoplight means the same as a stop sign: stop. After stopping, drivers should proceed when safe and observe the right-of-way rules.
