Badgers win & tie last two games before districts

The Badger boys’ soccer team blanked the Spartans in an Intermountain League contest at Priest River on Oct. 8, winning 6-0. Badger Steffan Robles scored two first-half goals, both coming on assists from Jake Tremble, at the 15th and 36th minute.

Jesus Mendez added a pair of second-half goals for Bonners Ferry at the 44th minute, assisted by Tremble, and the 58th minute, assisted by Cameron Woods. Tremble also scored in the second half at the 46th minute assisted by Mendez. The Badgers benefited from an own goal at the 55th minute.

Bonners Ferry held a commanding 16-2 advantage in shots over the Spartans.

Bonners Ferry traveled to Stillwater Christian in non-league boys soccer on Thursday, Oct. 10 and came away with a 3-3 draw.

Jake Tremble scored his first goal from the 25 yards out on the left side of the field in the 15th minute and then added another score in the 44th, equalizing both times. Cameron Woods saved the point for Bonners Ferry on his goal from the edge of the penalty box in the 70th to bring the score to three goals apiece.

Joseph King had the hat trick for the Cougars, but had to watch the game be leveled after all three of his go-ahead scores.

The District I-II playoffs will begin Oct. 18 in Rathdrum at the Lakeland soccer complex.

The Badgers (No. 1) play Orofino (No. 4) at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Priest River/St. Maries game at 2 p.m. on Saturday for the right to a berth at state.
