On Saturday, Oct. 12, a Spirit Lake man struck two separate vehicles on Highway 95 near Athol, both driven by Bonners Ferry men.

Michael W. Flynn, 69, of Spirit Lake, was driving northbound in his Volkswagen Jetta near milepost 451 at 12:04 p.m. when he left the road and struck an ITD construction sign. Flynn proceeded north, turned around so he was facing southbound and then turned back north again.

Flynn then crossed left of the center line and sideswiped a Kia Spectra driven by William Camire, 61, and then went head on into a Subaru Forester driven by Paul H. Rawlings, 67.

Flynn, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Kootenai Medical Center with injuries. Rawlings and Camire were both wearing seatbelts and did not sustain injuries.
