On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the Badger ladies played in a jamboree at Timberlake. They played three teams with one game per team.

In the first set versus Lakeland, the Badgers lost 25-17. In the second set against Clark Fork, the Badgers won 25-23. In the third set against Priest River, the Badgers lost 25-12.

At the jamboree, I saw both things we did well and definitely saw things we need to work on. Jamboree is a great chance to get the first competition jitters out and make us evaluate our strengths and weaknesses. No stats were taken at the jamboree.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, the Lady Badgers traveled to Post Falls. The ladies won three of four sets. They lost 25-22 and won three games 25-22, 25-21 and 25-22.

We struggled with serving throughout the match with 14 serving errors, but our overall play was much improved from Tuesday’s competition. Our attack was spread throughout the lineup and our defense was improved from Tuesday as well.

Overall stats:

Kills: Jasmine Hill, McKenzie MacDonald, Camille Awbrey with eight a piece

Ace serves: Emma Kelly-7, Malorie Stippich- 4

Digs: Desirae Minor-10, McKenzie MacDonald- 9, Malorie Stippich 7

Assists: Emma Kelly-25

Fourth set we were down 13-20 and came back to beat them 25-22. Emma Kelly served seven straight with the rest of the team playing tough defense. It is always thrilling to come back from that much of a deficit and win.

The Lady Badgers play Sandpoint JV Tuesday, Sept. 3 at home and Clark Fork on Thursday, Sept. 5 away.
