| April 18, 2014 9:00 AM

Arthur J. Brasher, 74, passed away on April 6, 2014, at his home near Naples, Idaho.

Services were held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Mountain Springs Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Arthur was born in Tehachapi, Calif., in January of 1940. As a young man he enlisted in the Army, where he served in Germany among other places, earning the rank of PFC-III.

In 1975 Arthur married Shela. Each of them brought children to the marriage, and they added one more together.

They raised their four children in Tehachapi, where Arthur was employed by the California Department of Corrections at the California Correctional Institution. Arthur’s career spanned 30-plus years, beginning as a correctional officer and retiring as a correctional lieutenant.

Arthur, Shela and their kids spent countless hours camping and fishing as a family, building memories that live on today.

After completing his career, Arthur enjoyed 20 years of retirement. The first 10 were spent in California where he and Shela both spent time in their various artistic endeavors, he carving beautiful knives and other pieces of art, and she carving and decorating gourds.

In 2004 Arthur and Shela left California to make their home in Bonners Ferry, where he was able to live out his life surrounded by the woods, listening to the sound of the creek running past their home.

It was here they raised their beloved grandson Dominic, who brought such joy to Arthur’s life.

On April 6, 2014, Arthur stepped quietly from this life into his eternal home.

He had given his heart to Jesus Christ, so his family is able to rejoice in the midst of their sorrow, knowing they will see him again.

Besides Shela, his wife of 40 years, Arthur leaves behind four children: Lisa (Ron) Lippman; Jon David “JD” Majors; Gerald Majors; and Mindy Brasher; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. There are also many friends who will miss Arthur very much.

Shela would like to express her deepest gratitude to the people of Bonner Community Hospice for the kind, compassionate way they cared for Arthur.
