| December 4, 2014 10:18 AM

Phillip Dean Marcy, 60, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

A potluck Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at 5 p.m. at the Edgemere Grange Hall, 3273 Bandy Road, in Priest River. Please come prepared to share a story of how Phil impacted your life.

Phil was born on Jan. 22, 1954, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Ron and Janet Marcy. He attended elementary school in Naples and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School.

Phil served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict as an ordinance technician.

After his military service, he pursued a wide range of vocations, including logging, mill working, accounting, construction and nursing. Prominent among them, he operated his own business, B.J.’s construction, in North Idaho.

Phil loved life. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, hunting, huckleberry picking, gambling, and ranching.

His friends will attest to his willingness to lend a hand.

Even when battling health issues, he proved that he was unbreakable; he tackled projects without flinching, including bringing in nine cords of firewood with Dan Craner, his partner’s brother just this summer. He was a mentor to many, always staying optimistic and strong for his loved ones.

Playing or working in the outdoors with people he cared about brought him joy and fulfillment.

He is survived by his partner Karen Craner of Vay, Idaho, whom he met in 2006; daughter Bianca Marcy of Orange County, Calif.; son Levi Marcy of Vay, Idaho; sister Rona Lincks of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and brother Leon Marcy of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Phil was an excellent father to the two children he had with his former wife, Judy Totten.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
