Get your flu shots

| December 24, 2014 6:23 AM

Many flu cases are preventable. If we work together to take proper precautions and get a flu shot, we can avoid increased illness and hospitalizations.

Getting vaccinated is vital for anyone who falls into one of the high risk groups, in which the flu is especially dangerous. That’s seniors over 65, children younger than 2, pregnant women and people with chronic conditions, such as heart disease or asthma.

The flu season peaks between December and January, so it’s not too late to protect yourself and get a flu shot. Even unvaccinated people who have already gotten sick with one flu virus can still benefit from vaccination since the flu vaccine protects against three or four different flu viruses.

Schedule your flu shot today. This small step now can go a long way toward keeping you and your family safe from this year’s flu season.
