Darylann Fredricks-Helfrich

Darylann (Dary) Fredricks-Helfrich, 73, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2014, after a long bout with breast cancer.

She spent her final weeks at her sister Shirley’s home in Tucson, Ariz.

Her family will have a service this summer on the Yaak River on the Montana border east of Bonners Ferry.

Her sisters Shirley Fredricks, Charlotte O’Bannon and Thea (Teddy) Daigler of Tucson survive her, as do her two daughters, Lora Raider and Stephanie Sherwood of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and three grandchildren Sarah, Josh and Everett.

Her mother Ednaand Father Anthony (Tony) Fredricks and her grandparents, Avery and Fay Pershall, preceded her in death.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1941. Darylann’s mother died when she was 18 months old. Her father placed her in her grandparent’s care in Arco, Idaho, until she was 14 years old. Then she moved to Boise and lived with her father and stepmother.

She graduated from high school in Boise, then ttended the University of Madrid, in Spain. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Idaho in Pocatello.She spoke fluent English, Spanish and German.

Darylann taught in a variety schools in Idaho and Washington. Darylann was member of the First Baptist Church. She loved sewing, cooking, gardening, canning and ground her own flour for baking bread. She enjoyed fresh eggs from her prize laying hens.
