Mud bog permit denied

NAPLES — Boundary County Planning and Zoning commission has rejected a proposal that would have allowed DelRey Romero to permanently hold the North Idaho Mud and Crawl at his family farm off Highland Flats road.

A public hearing held Feb. 20 at the Boundary County courthouse split the courtroom between supporters of the mud-bog and rock crawl event, who call it safe and well organized, and neighbors worried about a three-day party getting out of control.

Romero’s conditional use application requesting he be able to hold up to three commercial motor sports/entertainment events per year on his family’s property outside Naples was denied after neighbors expressed concern about noise and other problems that could arise if the event were to grow.
