Bobie Harrison Eby, 81

Bobie Harrison Eby, 81, passed away on Feb. 20, 2014, at the Boundary Community Hospital ER in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, as a result of complications of COPD.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 1at 1 p.m. in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Private interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery.

Bobie was born on Dec. 29, 1932, in Valentine, Neb., to Joseph Lincoln and Eva L Eby. As a child he moved with his family to the Moyie Springs, Idaho, area in 1937 where the family purchased a farm at Dawson Lake.

He received his education in Boundary County and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School. After his education he entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea. While in the service he met and married Shirley Anne Berlin on Jan. 31, 1953, in Olympia, Wash.

After his discharge from the Army in April 1953 he spent the next few years moving from state to state working in the woods, in sawmills and as an auto body repair man before moving back to Bonners Ferry in 1975. He worked for the Idaho Department of Transportation where he worked until his retirement in 1997. He has resided in Bonners Ferry until his death.

Throughout his life he spent many hours fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and traveling. Bob loved working in his garden and was very generous in sharing all he grew. He was well known in the community and from time to time would take is guitar and entertain at the senior center.

Survivors include four sons, Bobie and wife (Yolanda), Donnie and Jerry of Spokane, Wash.; and Loren and wife (Penny) of Laclede, Idaho; brothers, Richard (Rich) of Moyie Springs, Lester (Short) of Omak, Wash., sisters Sandy and Mary Ann of Spokane, Gladys (Peggy) of Portland, Ore.; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grand children.
