Help fill the bus for the food bank

| January 10, 2014 8:00 AM

The seventh annual Fill the Bus Food Drive is nearing and students are beginning to collect food. Valley View Elementary and Boundary County Middle School students are collecting food at school for the food drive on Monday, Jan. 20.

People are welcome to drop off food items at the schools during school hours through Thursday, Jan. 16.

On Jan. 20, buses will be parked at Safeway, Super 1 Foods and Akins Harvest Foods to collect food, including the food from the school food drives. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., community members can bring non-perishable grocery items to a bus or buy a bag within a store, which will be brought to the bus.

Donations should be non-perishable items, including canned foods, boxed foods, peanut butter, toiletries, paper products, baby food and diapers.

Local youth will unload the buses at Community Action Partnership Food Bank that afternoon as part of celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
