Badgers dominate C'dA Charter at home
BONNERS FERRY — Ahead 42-7 at the half thanks to their half-court trap defense, the Badgers boys coasted to an easy home court victory over Coeur D’Alene Charter Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Senior Cameron Woods led a balanced scoring attack with ten points. “Cameron is a shooter,” said teammate Conner Bennett, who had 9 points, “If you’re driving, and the defense is collapsing, you know he has to be open somewhere.”
“Wyatt Nelson had another great game for us,” said Coach Brian Woods, “He really shined protecting the rim and getting boards.” Nelson had eight points.
With nine points, Senior Kyler Rice rounded out the top scorers for the Badgers. “He was very effective on the top of our press,” Coach Woods said.
With a number of junior varsity players rotated in for the Badgers in the second half, CDA Charter was able to close the gap but still lost 54-30. Chris Adams for the Panthers led all scorers with 19 points after a second half run of three-pointers.
The win moved the Badger boys to 3-7 on the year. “We are getting better and that’s really encouraging,” said Coach Woods, “but we do have things we need to keep working on.”
Primarily, Coach Woods wants his team to be more aggressive against contact at the rim. “It’s a physical game and we have to finish strong inside,” he said.
The boys play the Post Falls jv team tonight, Jan. 16 at 7:00 in the BFHS gymnasium.
