Gabby Goose hosts Safe Infant course

| July 18, 2014 9:00 AM

The Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation is sponsoring the free Safe Infant Sleep Class at Gabby Goose Daycare and Preschool today, July 17 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Liz Montgomery is coming to teach safe sleeping for children. She is a mom who lost her son to SIDS, and is training community members in simple steps that will considerably drop the chances of infants dying.

“This is an excellent workshop and the safe sleeping methods have changed considerably over the years,” says Gabby Goose Curriculum director Katie Huggins. “We would like to open this up to anyone in the community.”

This free one-hour class covers the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for Safe Sleep. Participants will receive free materials (including a SleepSack) and learn many important facts to keep their precious little one safe while they sleep. Gabby Goose administrators are confident that participants will leave this class knowing the very best ways to reduce their child’s risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome other sleep related causes of infant death.

“25 percent of SIDS deaths occur because a child who sleeps safely at home is placed in the care of a home, daycare, etc. that does not practice safe sleep practices. That could be grandparents or families,” Huggins said.

This is a great class for new parents, grandparents, babysitters, nurses, and childcare workers. Everyone is welcome. Please register online at www.inwsids.org or call 208-55-SIDS1 for more information.
