Edward Gene Hanson

On May 28, 2014, Edward Gene Hanson (Ed) passed away at Boundary Community Hospital in the Extended Care Facility.

Ed developed severe rheumatoid arthritis and spent the last two years in the nursing wing of Boundary Community Hospital.

Grave side services were held Saturday May 31, 2014.

He was born May 21, 1942; the fourth child, to parents Ray and Ruth (DeBoer) Hanson, in a small town in Nebraska. In 1948, at age 6, he moved with his family to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, the year of the big flood.

Ed also joined the U.S. Army after graduating high school while serving he spent some time in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his service ended he worked for the railroad, enjoying the comradeship of his many workmates for many years.

Ed married Gail with whom he had three children Theresa, Edie and Darla as well as Gail’s daughter Robin. He was blessed with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ed spent his most recent years with friend and companion, Karen.

Ed was a people person and always enjoyed his time around people. Endowed with a sense of humor he enjoyed a good laugh and a shared joke or two with those around him. Until he was no longer able Ed made every opportunity to meet with his coffee club friends at the Three Mile Café.

Edward was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Janet, Rae. He is survived by: his three children Eddie (Nichole), Threase, Darla(Brad), and his five grandchildren Bradley, Emma, Savana, Vanessa, Summer; and two great-grandchildren Dominic, and Jasmen.

He also is survived by sisters Caroline Dinning and Laural Avery and one brother Jim Hanson; along with many nieces and nephews.
