Sadie Larissa Smith, 21

| June 19, 2014 7:01 AM

Sadie Larissa Smith, 21, left this world too soon for us but in God’s time, June 4 2014.

Services for sweet Sadie will be held at Mountain Springs Church on June 12 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery.

Sadie was born on Nov. 24, 1992, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Wayne and Yolette. She blessed her family’s lives 23 minutes before her twin sister Shallyn and was lovingly welcomed into the family that included her always protective big brother Layne and sister Cassandra.

Sadie attended Evergreen and Valley View Elementary schools, two years of high school in Petal, Miss., where she lived for that time with her sister Cassie and was the doting helper and loving aunt to Nolan and Dylan. She loved her time spent in Mississippi, was adored by her teachers there, had some great experiences and met lots of people who touched her life in special ways- especially Travis and Ashley.

Bonners Ferry was always home to her though and she finished high school here, graduating in 2011 alongside true friends she’d had all of her life- Andrea, Winter and Brandon, and many others that Sadie held dear. Sadie was so smart, school was easy for her.

She was “teacher’s pet” to many and her teachers always knew as did her family that Sadie was capable of so much and could have done or been anything she wanted.

Being a lover of all animals, especially of her “Kitty”, Sadie wanted to be a veterinarian, attend cosmetology school (which is something she so would’ve been good at!) and because she was somewhat of a serious type and a self-declared giver of good advice, (though too endearingly stubborn to take it sometimes) she also spoke recently of wanting to be a counselor or study an area of the legal field.

She did want some time after high school to take it easy before pursuing further education and like a butterfly she floated around a bit.. She spent a summer working at Willow Bay Resort with Andrea and Shallyn, lived in Lewiston with winter for awhile and worked at MJ Barley Hoppers, went back and forth to Williston, N.D., a couple of times; again, to be close to Shallyn (whom she could never be away from for long).

She worked in North Dakota at Priceless Car and Truck Rental as the office manager. She was great at her job because as those who knew her best were aware, Sadie liked to be the boss. North Dakota however was not the place for Sadie as she always did best when she was near her familyin Bonners Ferry. She came home for good this past January and resided between the homes of her “daddy” and her “mama”. She never called them anything else; was how she always got her way and melted their hearts!

Some of her favorite past times included snowmobiling with her Dad or simply enjoying his company and the closeness that they shared. She loved nature and being outdoors with her sisters, especially in the sun and around the water.

She highly valued her big brother’s advice on everything and when he recommended a good book, Sadie would always find it; as she was an avid reader. Sadie was creative, artistic and loved music. She enjoyed learning from her mom how to crochet and sew and recently they had enjoyed walking the river bank choosing rocks to paint for a flower garden. She could be fiercely independent and strong-willed but also had a fragileness about her that just made everyone want to take care of her and keep her under their wing. Through ups and downs, she was always our precious and irresistible Sadie.

Though she sparkled like a diamond in a social atmosphere and her smile lit up any room, she could also be reserved and quiet, a thinker and a dreamer. If you were lucky enough to know her, you know she was that way- a beautiful mosaic of all that was sweet, stubborn, strong, fragile, quiet, outspoken, wise beyond her years in some ways, a still waters run deep kind of girl, a meticulous girl who liked order and things “just so”; at the same time could be as spontaneous as a wildflower. So hard to put into words all that she was and all she meant to those she too soon left behind to miss her.

Until they see her again, she leaves behind her dad Wayne, mom Yolette, brother Layne (Jessica), sister Cassie, baby sister Shallyn, loving stepdad Glenn and stepsisters Sierra and Isabella, niece Quinn, nephews; Nolan, Dylan and Calvin; grandparents Doug (Sharon) Smith, Sandy Kucherry, Yolanda DeBoer, aunt Penny (Glen), uncle Darin, uncle Steve, aunts Cheryl (Jay), Lana, Lynette, Yvette (CJ), many cousins and extended family; all of whom meant so much to her and her to them.

It’s some comfort to know she’s again in the company of those who went before her: just to name a few; great-grandparents Clyde and Ruth Smith, Oren Dowell, uncle Tom, and the grandpa who adored her, Calvin DeBoer. We trust that they’re doing what Sadie loved best- spoiling and pampering her!

Honor Sadie by remembering her goodness and because in our hearts and memories she’ll always be with us, we know that when the sun is shining it’s really her beautiful smile, one raindrop in a storm is a tear because she misses us too, when it softly snows we can be reminded of her pure heart. She’s in every rainbow, breeze, bird and butterfly. Forever young, forever free, forever remembered. They love you so much, Sadie.
