Elizabeth 'Betty' (Monk) McGlocklin, 84

McGlocklin, Betty, 84, passed away at home with her daughters and Horizon Hospice attending her needs.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, Wash. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home’s Colonial Chapel.

Burial will be on Friday, May 9 at noon at the Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

She was born in Kearney, Neb., to Leslie and Laura (Wilson) Monk. Moving from the dust bowl to Cheyenne, Wyo., and then Elmira, Idaho, she attended school and worked as camp cook for her dad who logged the Grouse Creek area.

She met Gene McGlocklin at a dance in Naples, October 1948, and married him the following spring. She raised her 5 children in Bonners Ferry, ID, where she waitressed at the 3 Mile Café, square danced, PTA and lead in 4-H.

Moving to Spokane in 1970, she waitressed at Skaggs in the valley and latter owned and ran Crestline Laundry. After retiring, she worked as a caregiver for another 20 years.

Betty always loved helping and being with people. The only friends she did not have were the people she had not met. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Douglas.

She is survived by sisters Lois Jorgensen and DeLoyce Easley. Sons, Larry and Chuck (Amy), daughters Vivian (Dwight) Pauley and Janet, all of Spokane plus 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
