Badgers secure second in league

The Bonners Ferry Badger baseball team lost a well-played game against the IML Champion Tigers 7–4 Tuesday, April 28. Badger pitching only gave up 2 walks while striking out 6. Caleb Gering and Vince Bennett both got hits in the game.

On May 1 the Badgers crushed Priest River 12-1. The dugout erupted for 13 hits while pitcher Vince Bennett came back from an earlier season injury to strike out eight batters in a five inning 12–1 win. The Badgers improved their record to 7–8 overall and 3–4 in IML with the win.

Bonners Ferry started the scoring with consecutive hits in the second inning from Vince Bennett and Connor Bennett. Both scored on a fielding error from the Spartans. The Badgers added three more in the third inning after Caleb Blackmore walked and Caleb Gering hit a single. Vince Bennett reached on a fielders choice and Connor Bennett hit a 2 run single to score both Gering and Blackmore.

Connor Bennett later scored on another Spartan error. Bonners Ferry added six runs in the fourth inning on six consecutive hits to secure the victory. The Badgers were led by Connor Bennett who went three for three at the plate and Shay Garcia, Caleb Gering and Vince Bennett who all got two hits in the game.

The Badgers finished their regular season against Kellogg/Wallace on May second with a chance to secure second place in IML.

The Badgers travelled to the Silver Valley May 2 and swept Kellogg/Wallace 11–0 and 17–7 in an IML doubleheader. The wins secured the Badgers for second place in league going into the IML District tournament today at Timberlake High School.
