BONNERS FERRY — The Boundary County School District has opened bidding for a new roof on the Boundary County Middle School, including the cafeteria, gymnasium and music building.

The maintenance department spent spring break cleaning mold from the current leaky roof out of student occupied space all over the school.

They sprayed a mold killer after removing moldy insulation and sprayed a sealer to encase any remaining spores. Ceiling areas over the former district offices have been sealed off due to a greater amount of mold and maintenance workers will wait until summer to remove heavily molded insulation from these areas.

“With every major weather event, we have to patch or re-patch holes,” said Superintendent Richard Conley. “The old roof is sun-rotted. It’s very difficult to keep a flat roof sealed.”
