Black Friday deals at home
BONNERS FERRY — Want to stay home for Thanksgiving dinner?
Like your warm bed enough to want to stay in it instead of risking life and limb on slick roads or standing in lines out in freezing weather?
Enjoy being around town, chatting with friends, shopping and grabbing a bite to eat and then getting home in time for an afternoon nap or a movie with the kids?
Well, you can! This Thanksgiving weekend - traditionally known as Black Friday (Nov. 28) and more recently, Small Business Saturday (Nov. 29), many of Bonners Ferry’s merchants, with support from the Friends of Downtown and the Chamber of Commerce, plan to give you a reason to “Shop Local” by offering specials and sales, creating festivities right here at home to make your shopping experience both pleasurable and rewarding.
It’s amazing how many gifts you can find right in Boundary County.
And better yet, every dollar you spend locally has a better chance of remaining here, boosting local economy.
Participating businesses will be listed in next week’s paper, on fliers (watch for them) and on a punch card that will be handed out in stores and during the annual Christmas Tree Lighting.
Get your card punched each time you make a purchase at participating store and then leave the card at your final stop.
All the cards are going to be collected on Monday, Dec. 1 for a great holiday drawing.
Coupon sheets will also be handed out so you may see what specials are being offered all around town, from retailers to restaurants.
Everyone is welcome to the Georgia Mae Plaza from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, for Mayor Dave Anderson to light the Christmas tree and as Santa arrives via special delivery to greet all the families of Boundary County.
Join them for hot cocoa, coffee and cookies, enjoy the caroling and add to the fun by wearing something festive for the “Special Holiday Sweater” contest!
Make your life simpler, help support local businesses and give your family the best gift of all, your presence at home.
