Badger girls make solid start
The Badger girls basketball teams played their first games vs Lake city Thursday, Nov. 20. The Badger girls looked good as both the JV team and varsity came away with wins against the Timberwolves.
The JV team beat the Lake City freshman 59-24 in a game that saw the Badger girls outscoring their opponents early, and keeping a comfortable lead through the game. Nicole Donn led with 15 points.
The varsity team got off to a rocky start against the Lake City JV team, but used an 18-4 run in the third quarter to pull away. Then held on to win 51-46 over the JV Lady Wolves.
“Overall we got off to a slow start and turned the ball over too many times,” said Lady Badgers coach Chris Chatburn. “But we locked down on defense in the third quarter. It was a good hard-fought win to build on to start off the season.”
Savannah Woods went for 19 points and 12 rebounds in the game. Jasmine Hill added 8 points and Abby Skeen chipped in 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Every Badger scored in the game.
The next game for the Lady Badgers will be at home Dec. 2. The varsity girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys season opener following at 7:30 p.m.
The Badgers JV teams will next play Dec. 4 for away games against Clark Fork’s varsity teams with the boys at 6 p.m. and the girls at 7:30 before returning home Saturday, Dec. 6 for a quadruple-header at BFHS. The girls JV plays at 1 p.m., followed by the boys JV at 2:45 p.m., girls varsity at 4:30 p.m. and boys varsity at 6:15 p.m.
