Russell Oliver Mattmiller, 63

Russell Oliver Mattmiller, 63, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at the Swedish Hospital in Edmonds, Wash.

Funeral services was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at the Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Church in Bonners Ferry with Father Gregory Horton presiding. Vigil was held Monday evening at 7:30 p.m., the family will begin receiving friends at the church at 6:45 p.m.

Russ was born on Jan. 25, 1951, in Boise, Idaho, to Russell Edgar and Maebelle Mattmiller. He grew up and attended school in Kellogg, Idaho. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Sacra-mento, Calif.

Russ married Marlene Santos on June 16, 1979, in Napa, Calif. The couple moved to North Idaho and Russ worked in construction. Later he went back to college and worked on his nursing degree. Russ finished his career working as a certified nursing assistant at Luther Park in Sandpoint.

Russ was a member of the Holy Myrrhbearing Orthodox Church. He enjoyed fishing and painting, but he loved helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Mattmiller of Lynnwood, Wash.; two sons, Jason (Tracy) Lyman of Petaluma, Calif., and Anthony (Tammy) Mattmiller of Panama City, Fla.; two daughters, Diana (Michael) Cadden of Seattle, Wash., and Lorraine Mattmiller of Panama City, Fla.; and nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim, Bill, and Ed.
