Questions in inmate death need answered

| September 5, 2014 9:00 AM

Well the ball has dropped and the dust is settling again. Yes, I mean another has died at the Boundary County Jail.

David could have been your son, father, husband or just good friend. I would love to see his pre-booking sheet. Did it say angry, highly agitated, just shot with a Taser or how about suicidal? Time would be wasted to ask, I suspect.

I greatly contend this will NOT be the last whoops by our county to keep those in custody safe and provide medical attention as if it were you or me lying there.

Yes, under Ffederal law that’s what it says the state or county must provide. When you deal, work or listen to what is happening in our county, I give it five to one odds that another event will happen. It’s not if, but when and who will it be.

We can’t pick and choose our way to stop this and yes, we should not provide the tools that make it possible for someone to take their life.

Was David visible to anyone or a video camera hanging above? That is my question. Sorry, any less is not acceptable in my opinion.

I know there are some hating the thought of paying more taxes for EMS or yes, the sheriff’s office, but lives are at risk if we don’t.

How this is provided to the residents is the responsibility of our commissioners, much less the city of Bonners Ferry who indeed has had it’s own woes of late. I don’t pick, but choose. Don’t let the ball fall again.

Please buckle up and drive safely.
