News anchor to emcee DYW event
BONNERS FERRY — Mark Peterson, co-anchor of Good Morning Northwest on KXLY out of Spokane will be returning to Bonners Ferry to emcee this year’s Distinguished Young Women Scholarship program on April 18.
Peterson emceed the program in 2000 when Bonners Ferry Junior Miss presented “Wild Wild West.”
He has been in broadcasting for more than three decades, the majority of that time spent in television. He graduated from high school in Billings, Mont., and attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman. He started in radio in 1981 and has since worked in Billings, Bozeman, and northern California.
Peterson has lived in Spokane for 21 years.
The local Distinguished Young Women committee is grateful to Mark for taking
the time to host this year’s program, and welcomes him back to Bonners Ferry. Tickets for this year’s show are currently on sale for $12 at Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store. All seating is reserved and tickets sell out fast.
The participant chosen as this year’s Distinguished Young Woman of Bonners Ferry will represent the community at the state competition in Pocatello Sept. 17-19. The national finals will be held in June 2016.
