Richard Dean Allen, 79

Richard Dean Allen, 79, of Naples passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Life Care of Sandpoint. His daughter Denise was by his side.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.

Richard was born May 10, 1935, in Gordon, Neb., to George William and Sylvia May (Haddock) Allen. The family moved to North Idaho when he was a young boy. He was the ninth child of a family of 11 children.

Richard worked for the Forest Service when he met Ann Marie Stockdale. They married in Sandpoint on Jan. 27, 1956. Their first years of marriage consisted of living in a fire lookout tower. Later, Richard started working for the local sawmill in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where he worked until he was forced to retire due to medical reasons.

Richard loved to fish, hunt, and go for long car rides in the mountains. He loved to spend time with family and friends. In 1973 the family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Richard is survived by his son, Terry (Jackie) Allen; daughter Vicky (Roger) Kramer; daughter Linda (Allan) Wilder; daughter Sherry (Jim) Holman and daughter Denise Allen. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many extended family members. He is also survived by three sisters: Nellie (Dave) Eveland, Martha Allen and Audrey Lund.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Ann Marie in 1999, his parents, six brothers, three sisters, one grandchild, Paul Wasserburger, and one great grandchild, Jackson Allan Wilder.
