| February 6, 2015 8:00 AM

The Badgers varsity girls’ basketball team followed a 38-32 grudge match against Priest River Friday, Jan. 30 with an overtime win on the road against Timberlake 68-63 on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The Lady Badgers are now 3-3 in IML play and 10-7 on the season.

The Badgers kept the game tight through the first half, trading leads with the Spartans and leaving the game tied with 18 at the half. The Badgers were able to outscore the visiting team by three points in each of the final two quarters to seal the victory.

Strong defense and an efficient offense were keys to the Badgers’ victory, coach Chris Chatburn said. Bonners Ferry turned the ball over 12 times, compared to 20 turnovers for the Spartans. Jasmine Hill scored 13 points to lead all scorers in the game. Savannah Woods had 10 points for the Badgers.

The lady Badgers faced a number one ranked Timberlake team on Tuesday, Feb. 3 and played the Tigers to a standstill, coming from behind to take the overtime win.

More than one Badger fouled out in the hard-fought game, and Savannah Woods and Jasmine Hill scored 17 points apiece to seal the win for the visiting team. The win came despite a game-high 32 points from Timberlake’s Allison Kirby which included five three-pointers.

“The refs just let us play,” said Hill, who appreciated the opportunity to play aggressive basketball.

Oxford and Skeen were also in double digits for the game, with 13 points and 10, respectively.

The win marked the final game for the Lady Badgers’ regular season, with the IML league tourney starting for the girls on Monday, Feb. 9. The girls play Priest River in the North Idaho College gym at 4:30 p.m., followed by Kellogg vs Timberlake at 6:15 p.m.
