BFHS cheerleaders win Prairie Classic

| February 13, 2015 8:00 AM

The BFHS cheerleaders took first place in the only category they entered at the Prairie Classic Cheer Competition In Rathdrum on Jan. 24.

They beat their closest competition by more than 50 points. The girls worked months on their show routine for this competition.

“We had to make changes to the routine just a few hours before we were supposed to perform,” said coach Whitney Booth.

Minutes before they took the mat, two girls got slightly injured and they still managed to pull together and win first place.

“Their hard work has paid off so far and we are working harder than ever for the next one,” Booth said. Next the girls are heading to cheer districts in Rathdrum on Feb. 28. If all goes well, the team will be heading to Cheer State in Boise mid-March.

“We appreciate all the support from the community that we have and hope to see some familiar faces at Districts,” Booth said. “We have a great group of girls this year — girls that know what it takes to be a team and come together and do work. As the coaches this year, Alison and I could not be more proud of our team and everything they have done so far this year. We love our team!”
