Elsie Anna Wickham, 94
Elsie Anna Wickham, 94, passed peacefully on Dec. 2, 2014, at the Riverside Center in Castleton, N.Y.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1920, to Edward Carl Voegtling and Pearl Jeannette MacOrmond Voegtling in Schenectady, NY.
She was the eldest of three sisters, Pearl Virginia Copenhaver and Lela Mildred Van O’Linda, who predeceased her.
During the war she worked for the General Electric Company assembling parts for submarines.
She met her husband, Ray Steward Wickham, while rollerskating. Ray passed away April 4, 1988. Together they had five children, Carol Rutherford, (husband Jack Terry) of Bonners Ferry and Priest Lake, Idaho; Edward Wickham of Tampa, Florida; William Wickham, (husband Ric Dyer) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Jane Linsley, (husband Joe) of Albany, New York, and Susan Stranahan, (husband Al) of Lakeland, Florida.
She has six grandchildren, Todd Collins (Chris), Michelle Bernard (Mark), Nicole Genovese (Phil), and Joey Linsley of Albany, New York, Jason Rutherford (Andrea) of Spokane, Wash., Derek Wickham (Shaunda) of Brandon, Florida. She also has five great-grandchildren, Ryan and Connor Bernard, Dante and Syndey Genovese, and Logan Wickham.
She liked to read and play bingo. She loved to sing, dance and play the organ. She loved her dog, Gigi, and visiting the Pacific Northwest. She was a patron of the Northwoods Performing Arts.
She was cremated and laid to rest together with Ray on Dec,19, 2014 in Memory Gardens, Colonie, New York. Her family will miss her.
