Christopher John Matyi, 46

Christopher John Matyi, 46, passed away peacefully at Boundary Community Hospital, on Jan. 7, 2015, with his wife by his side.

Please join them to celebrate his life on Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Event Center (food court) at the Boundary County Fairgrounds.

Chris was born on Nov. 5, 1968, in Ogden, Utah, to Tom and Melva Matyi.

Chris grew up in Kaysville, Utah, with two brothers and one sister. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts, entering several Pinewood derbies, and eventually helped his son, Adam, build and win the Pinewood Derby.

After and adventurous youth Chris settled in Moscow, Idaho, working in the parts department for Columbia Tractor. He later transferred to Bonners Ferry when they purchased the John Deere Store in town.

Chris truly had a love for all that was “green” and loved being the local John Deere guy.

In 2002 Chris met and fell in love with Carolyn Standley and her daughter Emma. They quickly became a family of six.

Chris loved being outdoors whether it was home in the garden, picking huckleberries in the mountains, sitting around a campfire or just soaking up the sun on the water. Recently Chris had to take part in Peterson Farms harvesting which filled him with peace and fostered his love for the land and the community.

Chris is survived by his wife ,Carolyn; children: Emma, Adam, Caitlyn and Ivan; his parents, Tom and Melva Matyi; his sister Michelle (Lance) Heaton; brothers Jason (Holly) Matyi, Josh (Jenny) Matyi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chris was a respected businessman, friend and loving husband and father and will be missed by many.
