Crews mop up Bakers Camp fire
BONNERS FERRY — As of Monday, July 20, the Bakers Camp fire is almost completely contained. The wildfire haas remained at 49 acres and is 90 percent contained.
On July 19, a digital infrared camera was flown over the fire yesterday and no hot spots were detected. Another infrared detection flight is planned. It is anticipated that the fire will be controlled in a few days. Local fire crews will be patrolling the area on a regular basis.
For now, a 20-person hotshot crew remains on the fire, continuing mop up operations, and air resources are available for any assistance needed. There is no longer an area closure and the temporary flight restriction has been lifted.
Bakers camp fire was started by lightning on June 29 and was reported on July 1.
The fire’s location is 18 miles northwest of Bonners Ferry and about 8 miles south of the Canadian border.
