Roderick D. McNair, 78, passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2015, at Kootenai Medical Center after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held at the Grandview Cemetery on Wednesday, May 13 at 2 p.m.

Rod was born in Cranbrook, British Columbia, on April 3, 1937, to Charles and Irene McNair.

He spent most of his childhood in West Creston, British Columbia, Rod met his wife,

Sharon, of 55 years, in 1957 at a square dance in Creston, British Columbia. They were married in 1959 and from then on they made their home in North Idaho.

Rod worked for many years in the lumber industry before becoming a police

officer for the city of Bonners Ferry. Rod also had a locksmith business for several years. He volunteered for the Post Falls Fire Department and Ambulance Service. He enjoyed many hobbies including square and round dancing, gardening, cooking, bagpiping, ham radio and making jewelry.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their children Anita, Dwayne and Christine; and brother Stuart; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and his sister Fran.

He was proceeded in death by his son Jason, his parents, a sister, Joan and brother, Charles.
