Robert Edward Newhouse, beloved husband, father, son, brother and grandfather, passed suddenly into the arms of Our Father in Heaven on March 30, 2015 after a valiant effort to survive a massive heart attack. All of his children, siblings, parents, and dear wife were at his side at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Services were held in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he is interred.

Bobby, as he was lovingly known, was born on Nov. 18, 1958, in Tulsa, Okla. While in grade school, the Newhouse Family moved to Eastport, Idaho, and thus began a great adventure and love for North Idaho.

Bobby was a standout basketball player at Mt. Hall School, and played the drums in the Bonners Ferry High School marching band and jazz band. His big heart and affable personality endeared him to everyone. He loved riding motorcycles and driving old pickups around Boundary County with his friends. He enjoyed his employment at Dennis Ponsness’ Chevron, the old IGA on the South Hill, and Malone Funeral Home while in high school. Bobby graduated from BFHS in 1977 and joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev. After his discharge, Bobby attended Colorado Aero Tech in Broomfield, Colo., and earned his certification as an airframe and powerplant mechanic.

Bobby then signed on with American airlines in Tulsa and returned to his home state where he enjoyed a long career of over 30 years, rising to inspector. It was at work where he suffered his medical emergency and his loyal co-workers quickly rallied to his aid.

On Nov. 18, 2011, Bobby married the love of his life, Martha Paredes, and they enjoyed a blissful life together. They were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where Bobby was recently ordained a high priest. In January of this year, Bobby and Martha sealed their love for time and all eternity in the LDS Temple in Dallas, Texas. Bobby and Martha were serving the Lord together as missionaries teaching and counseling a church-sponsored addiction recovery class.

Bobby is survived by his dear wife, Martha; seven children: Shanna Bargas, Jessica (Ryan) John, Heather Smith Bishop, all of Tulsa; Jessica (Emilio) Montano, Jared Smith, both of McKinney, Texas, Alli Lemmon, West Point, Utah; Clint (Lolli) Smith, Phoenix, Ariz. He is also survived by his parents, Monte and Shirley Newhouse of Syracuse, Utah; sisters Linda Prow (Steve), Star, Idaho; Carla Cowley, West Point, Utah; and brothers Dr. Chuck Newhouse (Susan), Bonners Ferry; Fred (Maggie) Newhouse, Bill (Danielle), both of Meridian, Idaho; Mike (Laurie) Newhouse, South Weber, Utah. He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents, and twin grandsons Ewan and Ezra, who passed shortly after birth.

The family requests that in Bobby’s memory, extend unmeasured love to all of your family and friends every time you are with them, as this is how Bobby lived.
