Ina L. Pluid, 77
Ina L. Pluid, 77, of Moyie Springs,Idaho, died peacefully in her home as her husband held her hand on Sunday, May 24th, 2015, after an extended illness.
Services will be held Friday, May 29 at the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry at 11 a.m. Visitation will be available for the family friends on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.
She was born in Willows, Calif. on Dec. 11, 1937, to proud parents Dallas and Gertrude Pitt. After living in Tekoa, Wash., and the Yukon, her family settled in Addie, Idaho. She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1955 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Pluid, on Oct. 7, 1956. Ina started nurse’s training at Deaconess School of Nursing, Spokane, Wash., in 1955 and graduated from Beth-Ell School of Nursing in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1959.
Bob and Ina began their life together in Colorado Springs, while Bob finished his service with the Army before returning to Bonners Ferry in February 1959. They welcomed their first daughter Kathy in October of that year.
They moved to Moyie Springs in 1964 to the home they raised their family in and lived for the next 51 years. Ina served as a nurse in town until 1963 after which she became a full time homemaker and community volunteer. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who found immense joy spending time with those she loved – picking huckleberries with her husband, sharing her wonderful sense of humor, camping and outdoor cooking with friends and family, playing with her grandchildren, taking trips with her girlfriends and amazing us with her sewing, cooking, gardening and canning talents. She loved the outdoors, playing cards, to travel, the arts, and enthusiastically supporting causes she believed in. She spent many years giving back to others — a few mentionable roles among many include decades as a 4-H leader, coordinator of a local blood pressure clinic, and a leader for Idaho Women in Timber for 30 years, also holding a term as the state president.
She is survived by husband of 58 years, Bob Pluid, her children and spouses, Kathy & Dwain McGinnis, Rob & Kim Pluid, Kari & Bill LaRue, Kristi & Mike Gravelle, 13 grandchildren and spouses, Lauren (Adam) Michel, Frank McGinnis, Mark (AndraKay) Pluid, Robbie (Jason) Zook, Matt (Shantel) Pluid, Katie ( Joey) Miller, Emma, Maggie, and Mary Pluid, Garrett and Sophie LaRue, and Trevor and Dylan Gravelle, four great-grandchildren, Grace Pluid, Abby Michel, Mason & Myles Pluid, her brother Loren (Kay) Pitt, sisters-in-laws Carol Pluid and Janetta Dudley, numerous nieces and nephews, and innumerous friends.
The family would like to extendtheir sincere appreciation to all the friends and family who have been such a great source of support to them over the last several years and to hospice for their support the last two weeks.
Anyone who knew Ina, knows that the forest never had a better friend.
With that in mind, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, you plant a tree in her honor.
