Velda North

Velda North, a lifelong resident of Bonners Ferry, passed away on Tuesday, November 10 surrounded by family and friends.  

A celebration of her life will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Cornerstone Christian School Gym, was held on Saturday, November 14 at 2pm.

 Velda and Violet, her twin sister, were born in Kamiah, Idaho and were adopted at the age of 6 mos old  by Charles and Alta Deselms of Bonners Ferry where they lived until they were married.

 She married Lee McGlocklin in June of 1950 (divorced 1968) and had 4 girls; Kathy (Utter), Debbie (Haven), Deanna (Wong) and Tammie (White).

Velda met James (Jim) Breen and they were married in 1975. 

They lived in Seattle, Washington until 1982 when they relocated to Bonners Ferry. Jim passed away from multiple sclerosis on March 15, 1996.

She enjoyed square dancing and, in September1998, married her dance partner, Robert North. They made their home in Bonners Ferry until he died tragically in 2011.

Velda is survived by her sister, Violet (Jack) Flinn; her daughters, Kathy (Rick) Utter, Debbie (Harvey) Haven, Deanna (Rich) Wong, Tammy White; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren and innumerable nieces and nephews.

She made friends easily and loved life. To her friendships were for life and she always looked at the glass ½ full. 

She loved the Lord and we look forward to being united with her when the Lord returns for His Bride.
