2nd Annual Hometown Holiday event set for Nov. 27-28

| November 25, 2015 2:00 AM

Local businesses, with support from the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce, are joining together to offer folks a chance to stay home during the biggest shopping weekend of the year with abundant local sales and specials for the second Annual Hometown Holiday Event on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28. From storewide sales to fresh-baked cookies, this weekend promises to give everyone a shopping experience that will be both pleasurable and easy on the wallet. Best of all, every dollar spent at home is one more dollar that stays local, helping boost our local economy. On Friday, November 27 from 4 to 5:30 p.m., everyone is welcome to the Annual Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree at the Georgia Mae Plaza, along with the arrival of Santa Claus to greet all the Boundary County children and their families. Come down for this special event, complete with hot cocoa, cookies and treats for the kids. Watch Bonners Ferry, Idaho’s and other local Facebook pages for more details.

Coupon sheets and punch cards will be available at participating merchants before Thanksgiving, at the Turkey Trot and during the Tree Lighting. Coupon sheets will give you an idea of all the specials and sales. Take your punch card along during the weekend, from the Library to local shops, and get a punch with each purchase (or, in the Library’s case, a freebie). Once your card has been punched, fill out your name, address, and telephone number on the card, then leave it at your last stop to be collected for a Holiday Bucks drawing. Holiday Bucks will be given out to be used during the month of December at Hometown Holiday Event merchants. Last year there were ten $50 winners of certificates to help winners with their holiday shopping. Participating merchants are: Auntie’s Fabrics and Dot’s Country Kitchen, Far North Deli, Mojo’s Coffee, Sharon’s Country Store and Bread Basket, Boardwalk Boutique, Mugsy’s, Boundary County Library, Larson’s, Bonners Books, Serendip Studio, The Woodsman Shop, Riverside Auto Center, Kootenai River Brewing Company, The Rusty Moose, Goat Mountain Pizzeria, Baby-Go-Round, Gift Gallery, Under the Sun, Homestead Coffee, Woody’s Pawn, Sugar Plum Floral, The Badger’s Den, Northern Treasures and Far North Outfitters.
